We will begin to install the meters from late 2014 to replace the old meters at homes and businesses. The meter will be fitted at no cost to you and will replace your current meter.

We are using certified electrical workers to perform your installation. They will be carrying identification which should be visible to you. Our installers have gone through security checks, training and assessments prior to being allowed to install our meters. Our installers are also continuously assessed for their quality of workmanship and customer engagement.

You’ll receive a letter from your electricity retailer to let you know approximately when we will install your new Meter.

  • The letter will provide a number to call if the meters are not assessable or you are not in a position to have your power turned off.
  • If you are not at home when the technician calls they will proceed with the install, and will leave a note to say it was completed.
  • If the meter cannot be install our technician will a note to call for an appointment.
  • The technician will need to turn off your power for approximately 30 to 60 minutes while the meter is replaced. If possible, we would recommend any sensitive electrical equipment (such as computers and TVs) is turned off at the wall before the power interruption.

Once the meter is installed, you don’t need to do a thing, just leave the mains power on. Your meter readings will be sent to the electricity retailers and distributors. Over time it is expected that your electricity retailer will share your electricity usage information with you, so that you can make better decisions about how you use electricity in your home or business. Having this information will give you greater control over your energy bills an understanding of where further efficiency gains can be made - allowing you to save money.
